The manuscript score of the duets for 2 horns is conserved in the Saltykov-Schedrin State Library (Archiv A. K. Glazounov). They have no dates, and one …can only assume that they were most likely composed during Rimsky-Korsakov’s teaching at the Court Academy of singing (1883-1894). The simplicity and laconicism of these works leads to theassumption that they were intended for teaching material. Thesetwo duos are marked in the manuscript “Duo II” & “Duo III”, but as Duo 1 is evidently lost, the numbering has been changed. G. Gnesin 1957
