Fantasia in F Minor K594 is arranged here for a double reed ensemble of Two Oboes, Two Cors Anglais, Two Bassoons and Contrabassoon.
…This piece was commissioned by Count Joseph Deym von Stritetz.
After due consideration, Gwyn Parry-Jones has not offered metronome markings, leaving the tempi of the contrasting sections to the discretion of the performers.
However, the Adagio should not be too slow or funereal, but give a hint of ?one-in-a-bar? with sufficient space for expressive phrasing. The Allegro, on the other hand, should not be too fast, otherwise the intricate semiquaver patterns can become fussy and uncoordinated.
